Anna's softball

Anna had her first softball games this past weekend. We have been extremely busy with both softball and baseball. Currently they both have practice 2X/week and then they both have games. It has been very hectic, but fun!

Anna's team is called the Dazzlers. It is a group of girls ranging in ages from 7-9. She LOVES it!! We were very blessed to be a part of a team with GREAT coaches who emphasize the fun and the fundamentals of the game.

She requested #2 b/c that was Billy's number (he was the ACU quarterback the last 4 years). She wanted to get a picture of her number and her last name!!

These are some funny stories I do not want to forget about softball:

  • On her "try-out" night I heard the guy in charge tell the girls to run to first base after they hit the ball. I didn't think Anna knew where first base was, so I went to the dugout to talk to her about it. I said, "Anna, do you know where first base is?" She replied, "no". Then one of her friends said, "I don't either", so I explained where first base was located!!

  • On the night of her first practice, I told her to go put her stuff (bat, glove, helmet, water bottle) in the dugout. She asked, "Where's the dugout?"

Spring Break-Part 2

After our Hot Springs trip, Ken & I headed north to my mom and dad's lakehouse for a few days. The kids stayed with my parents, so we had several days of pure relaxation. Ken went fly fishing three days and I did nothing but watch trashy TV and read books/magazines. This was my view each day...
Mom and dad brought the kids up to us after a few days and then we all just relaxed. Ken's grandmother doesn't live far from here, so we got to visit with her as well. One night we went to my sister's house and met up with the remainder of my family (siblings and their kids). We had a great night together.
I thought this pic of Ken and the girls was SO cute!!

Spring Break-Part 1

For spring break this year, we made a trip to Arkansas. We always love going back and visiting with everyone, but this trip was extra special. I was having a sorority reunion!! We have all recently reconnected through facebook. One of the girls planned a reunion at Oaklawn Park (horse track) in Hot Springs. It just so happened that the beginning of our spring break fell on that weekend. I was so excited to be able to attend. I think I won the award for the girl who traveled the most miles; although there were several girls who did travel several hours to attend.
We left Friday morning and headed to my parents. We spent the night there and the kids stayed with them. We met up with our friends, Kevin & Shannon in Hot Springs and off to the racetrack we went!

This is the group from Fall 1991 that was able to make it. We all pledged together.
Me and my BFF from college, Shannon.

Me and another Shannon. We were in the same sorority and we were both in Speech Path grad school together. We have a ton of crazy stories!! We spent many nights/days studying and completing projects together.

This was the whole group! If you look closely, there is some random man in the very back with a hat on!

After the races, we went to our hotel and then we were off to dinner. Most of the crew met up at a Mexican restaurant in Hot Springs. Ken said he had never heard a louder group than us!!

This looks like some serious discussion, huh? Lee Kathryn, Andrea, Tracey, Amanda

We all met up the next day at Cracker Barrel. You know you are getting old when you met at Cracker Barrel for lunch!!!
Had a fantastic time getting together with old friends. Hope to get to do it again!!
