Several weeks ago, Anna came home from school and reported that she had "tried out" for a speaking part in the first grade music program. She was so excited to find out that she had gotten one of those parts for the musical "Go Fish". She was given the part of the zebra fish. The catch was that the zebra fish had spots, not stripes. I had to come up with her costume. Poor girl...her mom is not crafty, but we pulled something together.

Girl's Weekend in Gruene
This weekend, I was fortunate to go away to Gruene, TX for a girls weekend. Me and five others left around lunch Friday and headed out for a road trip (about 3 1/2 hrs away). About an hour or so into the trip, we had a flat tire! We pulled over on the side of the road and it wasn't too long before these nice guys stopped to help us out.
We happened to pull over into someone's driveway and wouldn't you know it, they tried to leave as the tire was being changed. Guess what the guys had in their truck?!? I almost passed out when I saw these snakes.
After that detour, we were on the road again. We got to Gruene in time for dinner. On Saturday, it was a day full of shopping at the outlet malls in San Marcos. For dinner Saturday night, we ate at the Gristmill. We had a fun game of taboo after dinner!! After breakfast and a little more shopping on Sunday, it was time to come home. I had a great time!

NASCAR race
This past Sunday, Ken & Layne were in Fort Worth at Texas Motor Speedway for the NASCAR race. Layne has ALWAYS loved cars. He could sit through an entire NASCAR race on TV when he was 3! I can't even do that!! They were supposed to go to this same race last year, but Layne came down with the flu. He was so excited about going this year.
We were very blessed by tickets. A parent of one of Ken's football players got them tickets & passes for access to the tents. I didn't really understand what that meant, but apparently it was pretty neat! When Layne got home the first thing he said was, "Mom, that was the loudest thing I ever heard". They stayed for the entire race. Ken said he never once complained and never once asked for anything. How awesome is that!!!

Layne is playing baseball
Layne had his first baseball game on Saturday. He was supposed to have one the week before (3/28), but it was cancelled due to the cold and windy weather (I did the happy dance when I got the call that it was cancelled!!).
Layne wanted a picture with the back of his jersey. He thinks it is so neat that it has his last name on the back of it. We didn't pick numbers, but he was very excited to get #8. He says he has to run fast b/c he is #8 (the fastest guy on the ACU football team wears #8).
Doesn't he look cute?.jpg)
